Volunteer in rural
India: Volunteering India brings you chance to
experience life in rural India, while volunteering
in Jaipur - Rajasthan. Volunteer with children, see
Taj Mahal, Ride a Camel and go see Jaipur's historic
sites all in this incredible 4 week program.
We partner with local
NGO's, which are active in a remote area of rural
Rajasthan through our rural project. This village is
situated in the District Jaipur in the State
Rajasthan. We aim at serving the underprivileged and
marginalized children of the rural community by
creating educational programs with international
volunteers, local NGO’s and local people working
together. We want to narrow the gap between rich and
poor by educating the people of the rural Rajasthan.
Our project reaches out to help the poor in
increasing the learning and knowledge with the help
of modern information technology and by inviting
international volunteers to Rajasthan. You can
signup individually or in couples. The program is
available to start in Jan 2008. Volunteers can join
with a group of friends for summer of 2008.
Volunteers would stay in a hostel accommodation, do
excursions to Jaipur and enjoy local culture.
While in this program
you would have 1 week of Language and Culture with
excursions and sightseeing for Jaipur and
surrounding areas. Volunteers will also see Taj
Mahal and would be dropped off in Delhi after the
end of the 4 weeks.

the best education using “Play-Way” methods and to
teach the child and their parents how to provide a
better future. For the students of 1st to 5th class,
volunteers will work with the teachers in teaching
the students English, Math and to expand their
creativity. The volunteer activities in the field
include:

to provide low cost teaching material and fun for
the children.

Volunteers will teach
the children in school mental mathematics and

Creating a playful
environment and enhance the creativity of the
children through painting, playing games, singing
etc.
-
Our volunteers will
help emphasize the importance of attendance at
school to the students and their families, to
improve overall interest in education and reduce
the drop out rate.
-
For healthier and
hygienic living, volunteers will inform the child
and their parents about health needs and assist
the government bodies to maintain the clean and
green environment.
Child Care Work
In the rural areas, early childhood care and
education are extremely important. This job is
traditionally done by local childcare centers called
“Anganwari,” but they need help. Our aim is to
support these local bodies to promote and maintain
the holistic childcare in the area. For this
project, the volunteer activities include:
-
Ensuring attendance
by the children of the area to these centers.
-
Keeping the parents
informed about the activities their children are
doing at the centre.
-
Assist the local
bodies in keeping record of each child based on
health, vaccination, growth and nutritional
condition.
-
Help, prepare and,
serve nutritious meals for the children everyday
with the help of a local worker.
-
Create a fun,
colorful, “Play Way” environment for the children
through games, stories and other creative
activities.
-
Develop the physical
health of the children through activities that
utilize their bodies in games, etc.
