There are about 100 million street children in India who do not attend any school and spend most of their time on the streets. In Delhi, the capital city, it is estimated that there are close to 1, 75,000 street children of which 7-10 % are runaways. Volunteers can bring smile on the faces of these disadvantaged street children by helping to create an environment conducive for their holistic development in order to enable them become a part of mainstream society .
Volunteers work at different shelter homes for street children in and around New Delhi. They can assist in providing love, care, basic literacy, recreation and most importantly spend time and shower affection on them. It can make a world of difference to their lives. Volunteer Work in India Street Children Program consists of taking informal education classes with the children, playing games with the children and introducing them to different new activities.Volunteers work for 5-6 hrs in a day for 5 days in a week.

The minimum age requirement for joining the program is 17 years.Volunteers need to have an open mind and flexible attitude for working in a new and different environment.
Note : An Application Fee of only USD 150 / GBP 101 is required at the time of application. This would confirm your spot and would be refunded if we are not able to provide placement in India.
Program Cost and Start Date
Program start on every Monday of the month. You can also join the language and orientation week in Delhi prior to starting your volunteer / internship program. This program starts on every 1st and 3rd Monday and is highly recommended.

What's Included
- Airport Pickup - Volunteers are picked up from the International or Domestic Airport.Those volunteers who will be already in India will be met by the staff at the bus/railway station or at a meeting point decided beforehand.
- Orientation: A half day orientation will be provided by our staff. We cover areas like, culture, greetings, locations, transportation etc.Volunteers are encouraged to join the Orientation Week - Learn Language, History, Culture & Discover India! in Delhi which gives them an opprtunity to explore different sights in Delhi and also learn some basic Hindi.
- Lodging: Volunteer accommodations are provided in the volunteer home.Living is comfortable and all home stays and volunteer houses have electricity and running water. Accommodation is shared with other volunteers.In certain projects , volunteers also stay in the project premises itself.
- Food: Volunteers are served with two/three meals a day in this project..Typical Indian meals include Dal( Lentils),Curry, Rice, Vegetables, Salad, Yoghurt, Roti (Indian Bread).
- In-country support: 24 hours support provided by our local staff. Volunteers have the support and assistance of the local coordinators and staff in case of any Emergency.
- Pre-departure information: After we receive full and final payment all participants are provided by a pre-departure information booklet by e-mail which will have all vital information about your program. The booklet provides information regarding the country , projects , coordinators , Things to pack , Visas and Emergency Contact Information.
