Volunteer for Women Empowerment in India

Volunteer in India: India is one of the fastest growing economies of the world. Though its women have made rapid strides in every walk of life and done their country proud, yet very often incidents of atrocities committed on them are reported by the media. There are many women who at some time in their life have experienced physical, sexual or emotional abuse. A large number of non-government organizations, besides the efforts put in by the government have come forward to help the battered and disadvantaged women.

Volunteers work in different centers set up by NGO's working for women development. These centers provide counseling and help women by providing adult literacy classes , beautician course training, computer training and income generating activities training. These centers mainly focus on the development of women and young girls living in the urban poor areas in Delhi and surrounding areas.Volunteers work along with the women and organization staff in these centers and offer their services.

Volunteers work for around 5 hrs a day for 5 days in a week.

Program available in – Delhi & Bangalore

The Programs in Bangalore are available in rural areas near Bangalore.

The minimum age requirement for joining the program is 17 years.Volunteers need to have an open mind and flexible attitude for working in a new and different environment. 

Cost and Start Dates:

Volunteers can choose to start their program on any Monday throughout the year.
We have programs running throughout the year for your convenience.

Note : An Application Fee of only $150 is required at the time of application. This would confirm your spot and would be refunded if we are not able to provide placement in India.

What's Included :-

Airport Pickup : Volunteers are picked up from the city Airport. Those volunteers who will be already in India will be met by the staff at the bus/railway station or at a meeting point decided beforehand.

Orientation:
A half day orientation will be provided by our staff. We cover areas like, culture, greetings, locations, transportation etc.Volunteers are encouraged to join the Orientation Week - Learn Language, History, Culture & Discover India! in Delhi which gives them an opprtunity to explore different sights in Delhi and also learn some basic Hindi.

Lodging:
Volunteer accommodations are provided either in a volunteer home or with a host family.Living is comfortable and all home stays and volunteer houses have electricity and running water. Accommodation is shared with other volunteers.

Food:
Volunteers are served with two meals a day in this project..Typical Indian meals include Dal( Lentils),Curry, Rice, Vegetables, Salad, Yoghurt, Roti (Indian Bread).

In-country support:
24 hours support provided by our local staff. Volunteers have the support and assistance of the local coordinators and staff in case of any Emergency.

Pre-departure information:
After we receive full and final payment all participants are provided by a pre-departure information booklet by e-mail which will have all vital information about your program. The booklet provides information regarding the country , projects , coordinators , Things to pack , Visas and Emergency Contact Information.
