Living in Jaipur

You can live with other volunteers at our house in the north of the city, or with a local family who will treat you as one of their own. Three vegetarian meals a day are included either way, and your project is 20 to 30 minutes away by the ride apps our team helps you set up.

Free time is easy to fill. Amber Fort, the City Palace, Hawa Mahal and the Jantar Mantar observatory are all in or near town, and the bazaars of the walled city are famous for block-printed cloth, jewelry and spices. Pushkar is about three hours away by road, and Agra and Delhi are an easy train ride.

Questions about Jaipur

How do I get to Jaipur?

Fly into Jaipur International Airport (JAI), often via Delhi. If you are already in India, you can come by train instead. We pick you up at the airport or at Jaipur railway station and drop you back at the end of your program.

Should I choose the volunteer house or a host family?

The house suits people who want company: you share it with volunteers from around the world. A host family is quieter and the quickest way to learn how Rajasthani families live. Both include three meals a day.

When is the best time to go?

October to March, when Jaipur’s winter days are around 18 to 20°C. April to June is very hot and July to September is the monsoon, but projects run all year.

Why do Jaipur programs cost more than Delhi?

Jaipur includes a third meal every day, the choice of a host family, and your drop-off at the end of the program.
