Travel insurance

Travel and medical insurance is compulsory on every program. Here is what your policy should cover.

Every volunteer needs travel and medical insurance for the whole of their stay in India. It protects you if you fall ill, have an accident or need to come home early, and we ask to see your policy details before you travel.

How to arrange it

  1. Buy a policy in your home country before you travel. Compare a few providers and read what is excluded.
  2. If you already have travel insurance, for example through your bank or university, check that it covers India, volunteering and the full length of your stay.
  3. Send us your insurer’s name, policy number and emergency phone number with your application documents.
  4. Carry a copy of your policy and the emergency number with you in India.
