Food and accommodationHome stay was very comfortable. host family made everyone feel welcome and part of the family life and celebrations (diwali) with us. they were always supportive and the meals were outstanding. It was a home away from home!

Our teamRajiv was a friendly and supportive coordinator. He had a wealth of knowledge of Indian culture, hostory and way of life, here which he shared with us constantly. He was very organised and always there to sort out any problems.

Food and accommodationAccommodation was good, we had more facilities than I had expected. The meals were the traditional meals from Indian family and we even learnt how to make some of the dishes, thanks to Priya.

Orientation and Hindi classesIt was very informative. I loved the combination of Indian culture lessons plus Hindi classes and trips to Delhi's monuments.

Summer Program 2009It was an excellent program. I would definately recommend it to everyone. Within four weeks, you get lot of experiences, the orientation week, the placement with the children and the final travelling Golden Triangle trip. We visited so many interesting places and it was very easy as we had private driver and a permanent guide with us.The hotels and the food was excellent.

Before the tripAll of my Pre - Departure e-mails were answered promptly and I was pleased with the level of communication. The booklet had useful information about the program and when paired with reading guidebooks I felt very well prepared for India.

Food and accommodationThe volunteers home in Rajiv's family home was well equipped with TV, hot showers, WiFi and it was nice having our own space to "come home to" at the end of our workday. The house is in South Delhi in a very nice + Safe neighbourhood with amenities close by. The food, mostly vegetarian, was yummy!

Our teamRajiv, his wife Priya and Dheeraj all were caring + available for big and little questions helping with a problem or giving directions! Having a smiling face waiting at the airport was such a welcome sight!

Would you recommend us?Yes - I felt very well supported, safe, and so pleased with the volunteer work I was able to do in 1 month.

Any comments and suggestionsVolunteering India is fantastic, as is volunteer work and India itself. Do be prepared for life in Delhi - its awesome but has challenges, transportation, learning Hindi (or enough to get by) and just the details of living in India. If it is your first time I would STRONGLY recommend the Orientation week, mostly because it lets you slowly get your feet wet and acclimate to India before jumping into work + haggling with rickshaws on your own. Rajiv is very knowledgeble and educated guide - you'll get far more out of sightseeing this way then on your own

Our teamAll very very friendly! Rajiv and Priya are great hosts and will help you with everything also the other Volunteering India staff we met (Sahil, Sunny Dheeraj) were very friendly and helpful. It was nice they took us to places (Palampur, Cinema etc) and we could see the office.

Any comments and Suggestion you want to make.Suggestions: - If the house is full during winter it may be handy if the other shower has the Hot water too. Maybe breakfast a little late in the weekend to get some extra sleep. I liked it very very much and if possible I would certainly do tis again.

ArrivalMy arrival was a bit stressful for me as the Airline lost my luggage but after I arrived in Delhi and was directly picked up from Rajiv's assistant (I didn't had to search him!!!), Rajiv helped me to get my Luggage back!

Orientation and Hindi classesLots of fun. Very informative. The culture was explained very well. It was nice to get information about the various monuments and markets (and prices) before we went to visit them.

SightseeingOur days out were packed full of sights, sounds and history. Such a vast city where all religions and cultures live side by side. Akshardham temple was my favorite. Another highlight was a visit to the orphanage.

Food and accommodationAccommodation was great! Very clean thank you. The people were very friendly. The chef was new and did not know what we liked but once he found out, he served delicious food with lots of variety, well done!

Before the tripYes, it was useful to prepare for my visit regarding etiquetter and conduct with locals as well as providing some useful Hindi words for my visit. It was also useful to show family who felt apprehensive about my visit to India. The information also helped to put my mind at ease.

Food and accommodationAccommodation was satisfactory. Dorms were kept very clean and volunteer house is in a safe but central location which is ideal. Food was always nutritious and well balanced and it was good to eat some traditional Indian food.

Food and accommodationThe accommodation during the trip was much better than anticipated, The volunteer houses were well kept, and comfortable. The hotels were also lovely. The meals were good but extremely repetitive.

It included a lot about culture shock but I was most shocked about everyone taking my photo. Service of staff was good, rapid response to emails. I was very concerned that I would be the only volunteer at the time of my placement. It was through the Facebook page I discovered another volunteer would be there the duration of same time as my stay. However, I neednt have to be worried as there were 11 other volunteers when I arrived.

Before the tripThe pre departure information provided was very useful, especially the general information regarding Indian culture, what to bring etc. When the project I was being placed at changed last minute it would have been useful to have been provided with some information about the new place to read.

Food and accommodationMy accommodation at the project was very comfortable. There was always someone to contact if I had a problem. The girls who I was staying with were also accommodating and took me for meals each day. I thoroughly enjoyed the food but found it hard to eat as much as everyone due to my ill health. Overall the accommodation and food were great.

Before the tripThe information we got before was fine and sufficient. I didnt feel we lacked any information and we asked something we got a pretty quick reply, so that was good. The part about the customs and different ways in India was for me the most helpful part.

Food and accommodationThe accommodation was good. Especially because its in a really quite place compared to the city center of Kolkata. So that was really relaxed. The room, bathroom, rooftop and meals were all good and I had nothing to complain about.

Food and accommodationWe got a whole room for ourselves so I was very happy that we got our own space. The shower and toilet are in a good state and we got 3 (big) meals every day and also chai with cookies. The atmosphere was very homely and I felt very welcome. The food was good and also more than sufficient. There is also a nice rooftop terrace and the location is very nice and quiet, not so much pollution and a pleasant environment.

All of our (Many) questions were answered fully and travel arrangements to Palampur were all organized in advance of our arrival in Delhi.

Food and accommodationAccommodation is in a great location for both getting to our placement and into town. The rooms when we arrived were kept tidy and a lockable cupboards is definitely a bonus. Meals were brilliant thanks to the chef 🙂 ... and always included new and wonderful vegetables. Cups of tea whenever we wanted ... Perfect 🙂
