“At the end of the day, it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished… It’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back.” — Denzel Washington
Volunteering doesn’t need a reason. It is a way to make someone’s day easier, to help a child believe they can learn, or to give a woman the confidence to earn her own living. However small your part, it adds up.
Whether you help in a classroom in Jaipur, run games for children at a shelter home in Delhi, teach English at a women’s center or shadow doctors at a hospital, your time will be welcomed. And you will see for yourself how much a little help can mean in a country where millions of people still live in poverty.
Volunteering India’s programs are run with local organizations, schools, shelters and a hospital in Delhi and Jaipur, and they match volunteers with projects that have asked for help.
This infographic sums up why you should volunteer in India in 2026.

What are the benefits of volunteering in India?
It isn’t only about helping others. Volunteering works both ways: the people you work with benefit, and so do you.
1. You make a real difference
Few things are as satisfying as helping someone who needs it. You might spend your days with children at a shelter home in Delhi, in a school in Jaipur or with women learning new skills, supporting local staff who do this work all year.
2. You get to know India properly
A holiday shows you the sights. Volunteering shows you daily life. You travel to work with local people, learn a few words of Hindi, eat at the stalls near your project and spend weekends at the Taj Mahal, the forts of Jaipur or the Golden Temple, along with the hidden places only locals know.
3. It changes you
Volunteering is an inward journey as much as an outward one. You become more patient and adaptable, learn to work in a team across cultures, and gain a clearer sense of how lucky most of us are.
4. You meet people from everywhere
You live and work with volunteers from all over the world, share the ups and downs of the week and travel together at weekends. Many stay friends long after the trip.
5. It helps your career
International volunteering shows employers and universities that you can handle the unfamiliar, communicate with all kinds of people and take responsibility. Health students can add hospital experience with our medical internship in Delhi.
